Synchronizer
I have discovered that Joy is God’s nectar and He abides in
me in order to gather it.
This finding took me decades to see. I was tipped off by my
dying father, only days before he left his human form. He said, “God created us
for His pleasure and everything else, for ours.”
It sounded nice at first, but then I started looking into
what this means and whether or not I could accept it. In the simplest terms, it
means that God wants me to be happy and successful. Following the most basic,
fundamentally Christian teachings, this seems to be correct. Furthermore, when I
trace the most likely patterns of human development, all the way back to human
origins, Joy stands out as the best candidate for initial and ongoing
motivation. The evolution of language and knowledge have reinforced the idea
with a far more advanced, universal consciousness, leading humanity to
happiness. Synchronicity and coincidence can be heard, clicking into place,
finding the next gear, sometimes grinding right before fitting perfectly.
My background in the automotive industry reminds me that the
old transmissions were built with synchronizers. Let me give you a really short
synopsis of how a manual transmission synchronizer works: it uses friction to
match the gear you are leaving with the gear you are entering.
The very first car to use the synchronizer in production was
Cadillac and the year was 1928; the year my dad was born.
Right now, I am trying to match this idea with what is
happening in your life-situation. You are presently shifting gears. Whenever an
old Cadillac would wind up to upper RPMs in those first cars, it was necessary
to put the transmission into the next gear. Cadillac used the fairly new
technology that would create some friction, while making this shift; the
friction was needed to mesh the next combination of gears together. Are you
feeling some friction right now? If so, this is good. This means you are about
to find that next gear. When you find that you’ve gone as far and as fast as you
can, it is time to shift gears. The right amount of friction, during the
transition, makes the new gear smoother. You’ll soon find yourself on a better
roll than you ever expected.
That technology was called synchromesh.

“All things work together for good to them that love God.”
Romans 8:28 (A very good year for synchronization).
The story of The Cadillac matches the intended trajectory of
your life-story. Every time you are feeling the right amount of friction, try
to remember that this is just the effect of your synchronizers, making it
possible for you to find the next gear without grinding and slowing you down.
Synchronizers are only necessary when change is needed. You can
stay in first gear if you want to. Many people do. You can see this unfortunate
play in every company. Those people tend to either run their RPMs way too high;
trying to catch up without changing, or they just slow down and crawl in those
granny-gears, never picking up enough speed to be promoted.
“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but
grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of
righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Hebrews 12:11 KJV
In other words: No synchronizer is going to work without
friction, nevertheless, afterward, the next phase of their life fits better for
those exercised by it.
That.
